March 6, 2018– The Mixed Barbershop Harmony Association (MBHA), an affiliate of the Barbershop Harmony Society, is excited to be represented at the bi-annual Mixed Barbershop World Championships to be held in Munich, Germany, April 6-8, 2018.  Three MBHA mixed quartets and one MBHA mixed chorus qualified at their local contests, and were invited by BinG! (Barbershop in Germany) to compete this year.
We are pleased to introduce you to our 2018 representatives:

Southern Stride

Southern Stride is a Mixed Barbershop Quartet from San Antonio, Texas which formed in the spring of 2017. The guys (Manny, Wallace, and Peter) are members of the Marcsmen Chorus, and Diane regularly performs with Opera San Antonio. Diane, Wallace, and Manny have sung together for several years as a trio at their church but wanted to officially form a quartet. In just one year, Southern Stride performed for chapter shows, parties, local engagements, the MBHA showcase at the 2017 BHS Convention, SWD District convention, and even for the Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force for a military retirement ceremony. All four members are teachers in the San Antonio area, covering ages 4-18. Southern Stride is a proud representative of the Mixed Barbershop Harmony Association and the United States.

Vintage Mix

Vintage Mix is a mixed quartet of 16-year-old quadruplets that perform a cappella-style music. Over the past three years, they have had opportunities to perform both locally and nationally, including international barbershop conventions held in Pittsburgh, Nashville, San Antonio, Nevada, and Costa Mesa. They have performed on the USS Milwaukee, WoodSongs Old-Time Radio Hour, and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, with their most recent appearance being on the nationally syndicated news show Fox & Friends from New York. They are proud members of MBHA and are honored and thrilled to be one of two quartets that recently qualified to represent MBHA and the United States in the World Mixed Quartet competition in Munich, Germany in April. Ripple Effect

Ripple Effect is comprised of 4 musicians and friends who are dedicated to the art of vocal performance. Hailing from Ontario, Canada, the quartet was formed in January 2017.  The quartet sings all different styles of music; however, the catalyst to forming was to become the first ever mixed quartet to compete and win on the Ontario District stage of the Barbershop Harmony Society, a feat they are humbled and proud to have done. They are proud members of the Mixed Barbershop Harmony Association (MBHA) and are also very honoured to have qualified to represent MBHA and Canada at the World Mixed Quartet Contest In April 2018 in Munich Germany hosted by Barbershop in Germany (BinG!).

Baldwin Blend

Baldwin Blend is made up of friends and family of members of The Harmony Ranch Community, where Barbershoppers and friends and family enjoy barbershop singing to its fullest. The chorus ranges in age from 15 to 80 years old, a unique blend of old, young and new. Baldwin Blend creates an environment that is inviting to those who want to learn the craft of barbershop singing. It also allows those in the chorus to sing with some of their closest friends and family. They have parents and children, husbands and wives, grandparents and grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and many good friends, and have created a wonderful community within the chorus. They have members from across Ontario, Canada, 200 km north to south and 500 km east to west.  Members are all part of the Mixed Barbershop Harmony Association as well as many who are members of Barbershop Harmony Society, Sweet Adelines International and Harmony, Inc. They were honoured to win the 2017 Mixed Chorus Contest in Ontario District in October 2017 and are the only chorus representatives from MBHA and Canada.
